A diagnosis of Fibromyalgia puts many patients on the medication train. Some can take over 23 pills a day and gets injections for the pain. Patient are not given much hope of being able to live life again without the drugs. Most patients with this diagnosis have been told they have to “ live with it” and take prescriptions for the rest of their lives.
Fibromyalgia is NOT a disease. It is a condition. Think of the “fibromyalgia” term as a way to describe what symptoms you have: fibro = connective tissue fibers * myo = muscle * algia = pain. Fibromyalgia means you have chronic pain in your muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Along with muscle pain you may have: muscle stiffness, fatigue, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and gastro-intestinal disturbances. Seldom will two people have the same symptoms. While it is not life threatening, it can keep you for leading a normal life.
The best way to treat your Fibromyalgia condition is with good nutrition, acupuncture – which improve your immune system, body work such as chiropractic adjustments, trigger point therapy, massage, and exercise. Drugs are not the answer.
